LIBRARY EDUCATION SIG CROWDSOURCED RESOURCE COLLECTIONS  

To support the teacher librarian profession’s professional development and practice, the IASL Library Education SIG is crowdsourcing three resource collections. IASL members are encouraged to submit high-quality relevant materials as follows:  

Meghan Harper (sharper1@kent.edu) serves as the SIG point person for social-emotional learning (SEL) resources.  

Ross Todd (rtodd@rutgers.edu) serves as the SIG point person for diversity/equity/inclusion/access (DEI/IDEA) resources.  

Lucy Santos Green (lgreen2@mailbox.sc.edu) serves as the SIG point person for LGBTQ+ resources.  

Objectives

  • to discuss emerging trends in education for school librarianship;
  • to identify and interpret emerging themes and approaches in instructional methods, curriculum, technologies;
  • to disseminate information on major new national, regional, state, provincial and local documents;
  • to examine trends and issues related to the provision of distance education for school librarianship;
  • to examine trends and issues related to the provision of continuing professional development for school librarianship.


Potential Activities

  • to provide an open forum for discussing all aspects of education for school librarianship, including issues, trends;
  • to identify, and establish co-operative links with, educational institutions providing courses in school librarianship and educational associations;
  • to disseminate information on professional development opportunities;
  • to provide case studies of successful professional development initiatives.
